PLACES, PEOPLE

Well, after six consecutive plans to get the hell out of Paris, we finally got off the train in Chamberry at nine a.m. today.
Yep, we have vacations from sciences po, and gonzalo and i had decided a long time ago that we would go to Berlin. And then Barcelona. And then Montpellier. It seemed like whatever we did, it didnt work. The whole trip was jinxed. Paris was like a bermuda triangle, and we couldnt get out.

So it was an enormous relief to sit down on the terrace of a sunny plaza, order carpaccio, a pitcher of water, and a bottle of rose and take all our time to enjoy it. Later we caught a ride to Montpellier. Paris is a really beautiful and enjoyable city, but as far as any peace and quiet goes, its not in the top ten.

On a bluer note, a good deal of people have left during the last weeks.
Its nice to leave when there´s still people, your farewell toasts will boast a large crowd and you don´t have to stay behind. hah.
But it´s part of living abroad. You get to know great new people who enrich your life, and even as you deepen those friendships, you know that your ways will part in a not-so-distant-future. Yet, those people are always there to visit, and they will be the only ones who will ever share, and so understand, your experience. At the end of the day, it´s the people that make the place.
